Making pine cone ornaments is a fun family activity that you can do with your nieces and nephews. In fact, they may love feeding the birds so much, they’ll want to be a birder like their Uncle or Auntie when they grow up. Use materials you have at home for this recipe. Start by gathering as many pine cones as you like from your backyard. For materials, you’ll need:
- Peanut Butter
- Bird Seed, any flavor
- Pine Cones
- Red Ribbon or String
Cover the kitchen table with sheets of newspaper for a clean working area. Pour bird seed on a plate and open the jars. Use a spoon to spread peanut butter or honey on the outside of the pine cone. NOTE: Kids may use their hands. Roll the pine cone in bird seed. For a final flourish, tie a red ribbon around the top. Repeat until all the pine cones are used. Hang outside on a tree within view and enjoy watching the birds.
Spruce up your pine cone with even more foods birds love by rolling it in the rich flavors of our Peanut Butter Miracle Mix and bird seed. We believe you just created a new tradition. Happy Holidays from Duncraft!
