Local and Family-Owned Company Duncraft.com Donates $80,000 to Benefit Local Charities
With a generous giving spirit, the owner of Duncraft Mike Dunn has donated 4,000 bird seed wreaths to support our district’s Rotary Club annual Bird Seed Wreath Fundraiser in the New England area during this holiday season.
“By donating these wreaths and eliminating any upfront costs,” said Dunn, “we create and donate $80,000 back into the community. With other fundraisers, you have to buy tickets and go to a fancy dinner—but who has $100 to spare?”
“This program is easy, the wreaths are donated by Duncraft with no overhead costs,” Dunn added. “The wreaths are a great product at a great price, and only $20 each, so it’s a win-win-win situation.”
100% of the proceeds are split evenly 50/50 to support year-round programming for the Capital City Sunrise Rotary Club and their participating partners.
Proceeds from Capital City Sunrise Rotary Club support the following organizations:
- McKenna House
- Global Polio Eradication Initiative: GPEI
- ShelterBox: Emergency Disaster Relief
- Pure Water for the World
- Special Olympics – New Hampshire
- Salvation Army
- Pine Haven Boys Camp
- Live and Let Live Farm
- The Friendly Kitchen
- Penacook Community Center
- YMCA Camp Spaulding
- Boys and Girls Club
- Child and Family Services
- Open Door Community Kitchen
The Capital City Sunrise Rotary Club also supports a number of local events, which includes providing, cooking and serving a meal at the Open Door Community Kitchen on the 4th Wednesday of each month, the Pitman Building Holiday Meal, serving the public free hot chocolate at the Concord Christmas Tree Lighting, Salvation Army Holiday Bell Ringing, participation in District grants to benefit the community, and the Electric Bike Raffle, while awarding seven scholarships and supporting numerous local charities and non-profit organizations.
Mike Dunn has been donating bird seed wreaths to the Rotary Club annual fundraiser for about 15 years. When asked about his favorite part of this fundraiser, he said, “I like being able to facilitate and more than multiply the cost of the wreath donation to support the community.”
The owner of Duncraft, Mike Dunn has been a member of Rotary Club since 1977.
Each wreath is made fresh in-season and attracts birds to your backyard. When the wreath is gone, birds use the leftover materials to line their nests in the spring.
