Eunice Miller’s Homemade Beef Suet Recipe
This particular recipe calls for beef fat, which is great for feeding the birds in winter. Birds crave the instant calories they get from eating suet, which is a high-energy treat during the cold weather months. Eunice even adds an assortment of dried fruit to complement the other high-energy ingredients.
- 1 cup Beef Fat
- 1 cup Peanut Butter
- 3 cups Cornmeal
- 1 T. Flour
- Assorted dried fruits or seed
Mix beef fat and peanut butter, melted until nice and smooth. Then add in about 3 cups of cornmeal and stir well. A small amount of flour can be added, as well as all kinds of dried fruits and seeds your particular birds go for. Then place in containers and add to the freezer until firm. Add to your suet baskets and hang from your bird feeding pole.
“My birds are so spoiled here,” Eunice added, “they never turn down a free meal.” Thank you for sharing your homemade beef suet recipe with us, Eunice, we appreciate it. Happy Birding!
