Dawn Coutu watches the birds when she walks, instead of the sidewalk.
As the copywriter for Duncraft, Dawn writes for the catalog and website. She’s written over 1,500 original product descriptions, so far. Dawn has two degrees in creative writing and poetry—and she has a passion for finding the exact right word.
Her articles, interviews, and poems have been published in print and online at Amoskeag, Big Lucks, Extract(s), the Henniker Review, Metazen, NH Writer, OVS Magazine, Petrichor Machine, Scapegoat Review, Today Magazine, and the Tower Journal, among others.
Dawn’s articles in Today Magazine have been picked up by the National Institutes of Health and Dartmouth College. Her poem “Obsession as Artichoke” was nominated for the Best of the Net 2013 by Metazen. Dawn supports Poetry Out Loud as a panel judge. And she’s had the good fortune to share the stage with the late New Hampshire poet laureate Walter E. Butts and the former poet laureate of Connecticut Dick Allen.
Dawn Coutu is the official storyteller for the Living History Event in Hillsborough, New Hampshire, where she reads local folktales to kids of all ages. She also reads local stories at Strawbery Banke’s Annual Candelight Stroll, as part of “Vintage Christmas in Portsmouth.”
