Thank you everyone!!! I am so glad my photo won the contest. I appreciate all the comments, but truly the honor goes to God who created these winged wonders for us to enjoy!

Jay Timberlake March 17, 2010 at 12:08 am

Just got done viewing some of the comments. Thank you everyone! Bless you all! I’m so glad this picture has been enjoyed by so many people. As an Interpretive Naturalist, I am so glad to bring nature closer to your hearts. This has made it worth sitting outside for 5-6 hours at a time in 20F, sometimes ~17F weather, waiting for the birds to come and to get the right shot. Romans 1:20
Thanks again! And THANK YOU Duncraft! I know the birds thank you too! :)

Glorious photo…

Diane Adler March 18, 2010 at 11:28 am

Lovely! Whenever I see a Cardinal, I always look for its mate who is never far away! This picture is so beautifully framed.

Jimmye Porter March 18, 2010 at 11:29 am

Congratulations, what a wonderful photo, you captured the Beauty of the Cardinals…

Louise March 18, 2010 at 11:54 am

Congratulations, and I agree it would make a perfect Christmas card! I would order a bunch! Cardinals are very special creatures, and part of their beauty is that they have no idea how beautiful they are (except to each other, I guess!) and how much joy they bring to our winters.

Jay Congratulations, It is truly a gem. It shows even in nature the female has to keep an eye on her guy.

Cathy Ezell March 18, 2010 at 2:00 pm

Viewing your cardinals in the snow made my day. I live in CO now and can’t see these gorgeous birds that I grew up with. I really miss them. You should sell your photo!

Ileana Liel March 18, 2010 at 5:35 pm

Lovely photo – congrats to the winner. Would also be interested in seeing a tally of the votes.

Dot March 18, 2010 at 6:10 pm

Beautiful photo, Jay! I love the brightness of cardinals against the snow – one of the good things about winter. 😉

Cheryl March 18, 2010 at 6:25 pm

Congratulations Jay,your photo was my first choice as a bird lover as it shows the love we share for these beautiful creatures. They truly are a gift from God.All the photos were exceptionally good, some for the photographic merit, such as the bluejay caught in flight others for showing the love and joy,we obviously all share in the beauty of the birds and the wonder of nature. This was an enjoyable contest, looking forward to the next one.

Melody J. Kraus March 18, 2010 at 7:17 pm

How did the cardinals know how to pose like that for the winner??!! :-)

Mary Patton March 18, 2010 at 8:13 pm

Absolutely wonderful photo!!!! I enjoy watching my birds in the yard but I can never get them to stand still. I hear & see the cardinals when they use the mating call. So-o-o cool. Thanks for sharing Jay.

Maureen Curran March 18, 2010 at 8:19 pm

I am 9 years old, and I just love bird watching. I take care of them in our yard. Your picture was awesome. I hope I win a bird picture contest someday. You must be really good.

Mary March 20, 2010 at 7:13 am

Absolutely beautiful.

Judy March 20, 2010 at 9:33 am

Congratulations! What a wonderful photo! It was so hard to choose; too bad there had to be only one “winner”.

Melissa March 20, 2010 at 12:46 pm

It was an easy vote. It was the kind of photo memory I look for when I snap winter at it’s usual. Cardinals are winter here in the Midwest. They are the lovebirds of the winter. Very nice photographic work!

Pamela March 20, 2010 at 10:02 pm

Jay, your Cardinals made me a little homesick for Oklahoma. I live in the Pacific NW & there are no Cardinals, Blue Jays or Mockingbirds here.

Nancy March 21, 2010 at 12:53 pm

I did vote for your picture. Cardinals are my favorite bird. I have lots in my yard and I watch them all the time but I have never caught a sight like that. Great Job!

Sundeep March 21, 2010 at 1:47 pm
